“An investigator, not a cop.” An Irishman who lives out of an RV, drinks his coffee black, calls Abigail “darlin’,” and turns up everywhere she goes. He says he’s in Wicker Hill on a missing-persons trail.

Tommy pulls her out of the water, kicks in the doors she can’t, and tells her to leave town every chance he gets. But sometimes he talks like a man who has already watched this story play out, more than once, and knows exactly how it ends.
