The Powers Beneath

The Abyssal Pantheon

They were here before the town. They will be here after.

The Higher Abyssal Court

Kin of the Writhing Obelisk

Beneath the whole Wicker universe runs a deeper mythology: an abyssal court of old powers, each the living embodiment of a single vice. They do not rule with armies or thrones — they rule through dreams, pressing on the softest part of a sleeping mind until desire, grief, or ambition becomes a door. Syraqneth, the Writhing Obelisk, is the one whose hand closes around Wicker Hill; the rest wait in their own stories, patient and starving.
